Those months of craving, just to have a glimpse of Before Sunset is over. I finally managed to get hold of a screener video of the movie. Though I wont discuss any technical details about the video or audio quality of the video I got. What I will be discussing is a about how did they manage to fuse Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Those nine long years of stillness. An open ending that we just wished that someone knew how it ended. That’s what kept me clinging on to Before Sunrise. It ended not with a happy nor sad ending. But it made some of us empty in some way making us want to know more about them. So what we did was to watch it all over for so many times over and over and over. And with every end of the movie we learned more about them. A hundred and five minutes of pure conversation with one another. Their glances and stares. The empty streets they’ve walked. The topics they discussed. Even though we watch the film for so many times we can never end this movie. They never exchanged phone numbers, never gave their address to one another. What they only have was just a promise to meet again after six months at the train station. If ever one of them gave away their phone number. We could just probably generate a happy ending, because either one of them can call the other to meet sometime. And just because of those digits, we can be rest assured that they’ll see each other again.
Finally after nine years of waiting we finally have a sequel. Though I hate the idea of having a sequel because it might spoil those special moments in the movie. But I just can’t blame them to make one, because there are times that we should know about it. Because the movie moved us so much in a way that Jesse and Celine were more than just characters in a simple movie, but it slowly seeps into our minds often that they’ve became a part of ours. Before Sunset was seamlessly appended that those questions we used to ask ourselves were answered, like “did they ever meet again?” or “what happened after six months?” Just don’t be surprised that a measly eighty minutes is short for a sequel. The film runs in real-time where Jesse has to board a plane to New York. Jesse or Jesse Wallace(they finally figured out a surname) attended a book signing of his first published book in Paris. And there she met Celine. Then the story continues where they just both walked on the streets of Paris on their way to the café. By just watching them together again made a feeling of joy and contentment within me that kept me glued to their dialogues. Again, the best thing about this movie is the simplicity. Before Sunset was just showcasing ordinary lives of two strangers who have met nine years ago on a train. I would definitely recommend it to everyone, even though you haven’t seen Before Sunrise. And if you liked Before Sunset, without delay try to watch Before Sunrise to complete the picture.

On October 27 they’ll be showing it here in the Philippines. And still I’m not satisfied watching it on video that’s why I’ll be watching it on silver screen allover again..

After Hoagie died I tried to move on.. But it was hard at first. On the first day I felt so sad and just kept on blaming myself on why he died... I always remember him greeting me infront of our garage, wagging his tail and sniffing at me if I had brought with me any food for him. He always sniffs at my jeans for any trails of dog scent I carry along with me. He always knew if I went to a friend's house petting a dog. And when I arrive at our garage he'll bark at me as if I'm a stranger when he smells any trails of dog scent from a dog's friend.. hehehe.. Here's one thing that I always remember about Hoagie.. He likes and dislikes cats at the same time. Eversince he was still a pup he like being near cats, and the cats hated him for that.. Before even Hoagie crawled and ran at our backyard there were lots of cats resting there. When ever I give hoagie his bowl of food the cats swarmed around him to get a piece of the meal.. Hoagie didnt mind.. but when the time came that he was scratched by a cat's paw.. It was the start of Hoagie hating cats.. And boy.. he hated cats.. no more cats resting at our backyard ever again.. When hoagie was in his fourth year with us we noticed that he just ignores cats at our backyard again.. the cats just sleep there laying so peacefully and you can clearly see him just ignoring them, just lying on the ground sleeping very soundly too.. and guess what I did? I surprised him by waking him up and pointing at the cats resting and he immediately rushed towards the cats and barked at them madly.. He felt so ashamed that he never stopped barking at the wall even thought there were no cats anymore to bark at.. day by day he just ignores them.. and we just surprise him from time to time.

Just a while ago my best and dear friend died.. He’s name was Hoagie.. my beloved friend and my cherished dog for nine long years… I really can’t think of anything right now but all I know was that he was like a part of the family. He’s not a perfect dog that everybody could like. He barks a lot at may not like every person he sees. But we loved him alot.
Last 1995 when my girlfriend gave him as a birthday gift to me. I told myself that I would take good care of him no matter what. For the first year I had him he was a very disobedient dog. My dad always scolds me because he didn’t like dogs. He was irritated with the barks and trashes anything in the backyard. After a while he got used to Hoagie. For the length of nine years who wouldn’t be attach to him. He was a kind and a loyal dog and everyone he knows liked him.

Hoagie, thanks for all the special moments and memories you shared with my family and me. I know its hard moving on without you. But you left a deep mark in all of our hearts. You will always be remembered. Always be cherished. And always be loved. Thank you!
Goodbye friend. Goodbye Hoagie. Take care of yourself wherever you are.

I rememered when I was around 8 years old.. I used to stay at home because of asthma. So when I'm at home resting I just watch television and breathe the fresh air at our backyard.. There's nothing else to do sometimes.. And one time while watching television I came across this full length cartoon movie. It was the Peanuts gang with Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Peppermint Patty, Snoopy and etc.. The movie was called Snoopy, Come Home.. It was about Snoopy to visit her former owner. It was one of those movies that can make you cry.. It was one of saddest movies I across to in my entire life.. At an age of 8 a sad movie like that can really crush your heart, until now how I wish I could see it all over again... Too bad its still not released on dvd, only on vhs and laserdisc are available.. Anyway after watching the movie at a young age I've became a Peanuts fan eversince.. I've been going to thriftshops, 2nd hand bookshops to find some pocketbooks, toys or other Peanuts paraphernalia I could find. I dont buy everything i find.. but I just buy those that reminds me better of the gang.. Just last week I acquired a 10 dvdset of Peanuts videos made by Pony Canyon Inc. Japan, although Snoopy, Come Home wasn't included in it. It was still worth every penny I paid for it... Just this saturday I watched the some of the episodes... and I felt traveling back in time watching each episodes.. then I think of Charles M. Schulz while watching those wonderful episodes, how he left a milestone to each and every heart of an adult or child who were touched by the Peanuts gang..

before sunrise dvd info..
sorry for the delayed entry... I got my Before Sunrise dvd last saturday and it was a good deal from a seller at pinoydvd.. it's a Region1 dvd... it was nicely wrap and sealed.. after getting the dvd i immediately went home and tested the dvd... and all was great.. its a dvd flipper, a double sided dvd.. a fullscreen and a widescreen release of the feature.. and of course i tested the widescreen release of the feature... :) the transfer was excellent! it was way far from the DIY Before Sunrise DVD i made few months ago.. :) its in anamorphic widescreen, so i can't really compare it with my VHS copy in fullscreen hehehe.... i was just happy seeing the film in its full glory.. the menus are just static.. nothing fancy.... but i liked it anyway.. no features included like director's commentary, film info, or making of the movie.. it was just a simple plain vanilla dvd release.. but its the only one out there... :) the sound was great.. dolby digital 2.0 was sufficient enough for the movie.. so i guess a 5.1 dolby digital audio track will just be useless cause the movie just relolves around conversations between ethan and julie and wonderful sceneries of vienna.. :)
well.. Before Sunset will be soon released in US.. so I hope that they'll pack the dvd with more features and infos about the film.. like interviews and commentaries..
i also just bought another film by Linklater called Tape.. it was a great little movie.. there were only three cast for the entire movie. Included in the dvd was a production commentary which was very informative.... i just hope they'll do it the same with the upcoming dvd release for the Before Sunset.. :)

I'll be owning a Before Sunrise DVD this coming weekend.. :)
While I was browsing for the features of the DVD at amazon.com, it was just a plain barebones dvd release.. no frills, no deleted scenes, no commentary, no alternate endings.. hehehe..
anyway, I dont care if it doesnt have anything on it.. as long I can watch it on anamorphic widescreen.. its been so many years that I've been aching and torturing myself watching the movie on vhs.. recorded via HBO.. few months ago i even transfered the vhs movie to DVD... the transfer was great.. but it still came from vhs.... i even made a dvd menu complete with chapters and description.. am I really that desperate.. ?? hehehe.. maybe yes..
i'm quite happy with the vhs copy i owned.. watch the movie almost 18 times already with that vhs..
owning the dvd would be great regarding its widescreen and not compared to fullscreen.. i can now watch it in full glory..
what i'm just worrying about is that when before sunset will be shown.. after a few months they'll release the dvd.. and let's say they'll include Before Sunrise with it.. like a Special Collector's Edition Release.. fully restored video.. WTF.. i guess i will also be tempted to buy that dvd too.. hehehehe
three more days to go............... and couting..
out.
